Training Interface Group Fellowships up to 10

Major Trauma

Details of the Fellowships

For 2023 the fellowships will be open solely to applicants that will be post-certification or appear on the GMC and/or Irish Specialist Registers at the start date of the post. These posts are suited to those applicants within two years of the completion of surgical specialty training.

We are recruiting 3 fellows for posts starting on the 2nd of August 2023 for a period of 12 months in training centres throughout England.  The 12 month posts offer a year of intensive training and are suitable for candidates who have trained in Anaesthetics, General Surgery, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Vascular Surgery & Emergency Medicine or who have a demonstrable interest in Major Trauma Surgery.

Within the fellowships there are two different pathways:

The Resuscitative Pathway: This will be most suitable to general and vascular surgeons and will enhance those technical skills required to save life in the early stages of the major trauma patients hospital management.

The Major Trauma Pathway: This has been designed to develop the major trauma leader role, providing leadership in the care of the major trauma patient from the trauma room through to transfer to rehabilitation. This would be suitable for any surgeon or physician wanting to develop their major trauma leadership skills.

Candidates will be appointed to a training pathway and centre based on personal preference and availability, depending upon ranking at interview.
