There are numerous studies reporting the impact of unconscious bias on day-to-day interactions, overweight people, those with a weak handshake or tattoos, and of course gender issues, race, LGBT (to name just a few!). As a result, individuals and organisations are missing out on great talent; not forming strong working relationships, inhibiting excellent performance etc. Some people are discouraging or disregarding others without even realising. By raising awareness of bias from unconscious to conscious levels and providing simple tips to guard against unconscious bias, we are equipping our managers and colleagues to be more inclusive.

Attendees will:

  • Understand the filters through which we view and interpret ourselves and other people in the context of day to day interactions
  • Appreciate how unconscious bias can adversely affect judgement and decision making and negatively impact on interactions
  • Experience what micro inequities are and how they can influence performance and decisions
  • Take away practical hints and tips to guard against unconscious bias
