Revalidation: Improving SAS Appraisal

The organisational readiness self assessment (ORSA) report released in August highlighted that there are still some barriers to engagement with staff grades, associate specialist and specialty doctors (SAS doctors), who have historically had lower appraisal rates compared with other doctors.

This event, hosted by NHS Employers and the NHS Revalidation Support Team will help you to identify the barriers and facilitators to appraisal for this group of doctors and support the development of local plans to ensure that all doctors have fair and equal access to annual appraisal.

Who should attend?

The event aims to bring together clinical leaders, Responsible Officers, SAS doctors and BMA representatives to work through the issues together and define some agreed actions.

The programme will include:

  • Background to revalidation
  • The importance of appraisal to revalidation - supporting information – content and collection of portfolio (group work)
  • Role of SAS doctor as medical appraiser & appraiser training.
