For all Local Associate Postgraduate Deans, Training Programme Directors (GPEs), Educational Supervisors and ST1 Trainees:
Applications are now invited from ST1 trainees who would like to take an OOPE from August 2014 between their ST2 and ST3 years.

In particular please ensure that you read Taking Time Out of Programme which outlines the application process and further GP specific criteria.
Application process:
- Submission of the OOPE application form which is available from the Gold Guide in appendix 3
- Written support from your educational supervisor, your training programme director (GPE) and your local Associate Postgraduate Dean
- A clear statement as to how this proposed OOPE will:
- benefit the candidate’s career progression in General Practice
- benefit General Practice in the NHS
- benefit the health of the country of the placement
- need to be taken at this particular time – a window of opportunity
- Current CV
Note that successful OOPE candidates will be eligible after their OOPE year for nomination for the Excellence Award for Medical Work outside the GP training programme during their ST3 year.
