Our first South West Trainee Clinical Leadership Conference

“All junior clinicians are in unique but also challenging positions to lead and improve the teams, organisations and wider health service in which we work.”
Our seven HEE-SW Leadership Fellows Linked up with two Academic Foundation Trainees from Torbay Hospital to work together to produce a SW wide regional trainee clinical leadership conference, bringing together a diverse array of speakers and workshops, both local and external.
This was to be a trainee conference organised by trainees, run by trainees, for trainees. They were supported by myself as the Lead for the SW for Leadership development, the Educational Faculty team at the Deanery, along with the Leadership Academy and the BMA.
The 200 trainee delegate places were booked up within 2 weeks of registration opening! Clinical Leadership Mentors were invited alongside trainees to attend the conference to start leadership mentor-trainee integration.
